There are a bunch of diets for quick weight loss out there trying to lure us in with promises of shedding weight in no time at all. If you’ve ever tried dieting, you’ll know that just can’t be true. The weight loss market has become very confusing for most of us as it is stuffed full of useless tips and products which are aimed at your wallet, not your weight loss goals.                                 

Most of the diets for quick weight loss are, you guessed it, ‘Fad Diets’, they include the 3 Day Air Hostess Diet, the Cabbage Soup Diet, the 500 calorie diet and other fad diets like these.  Unfortunately they generally do not lead to long term weight loss and weight maintenance. Instead they leave you feeling flat and a little hopeless.  

If you’ve ever tried one of these, it’s definitely not your fault, millions of folk have tried them as their promises are almost irresistible.  However, the reason many of these diets fail is they only offer short-term plans which severely restrict your calorie intake.  As your body is being nutritionally starved, these limited eating plans cannot be maintained.  You may actually lose a few pounds in the first few weeks, but instead of losing body fat, what you’ve lost is most likely fluid and muscle tone. So your unwanted body fat hasn’t actually budged.

What happens when your body is being starved of calories is, it starts to burn muscle mass instead of your stored fat.  Hence, you may become weak and listless, rather than strong, lean and energetic. 

Participating in these diets for quick weight loss for any length of time can have an adverse effect on your health as well as triggering your body to go into ‘famine mode’ and store every last calorie you eat! So, at the end of the day, you are depriving your body of vital nutrients and it is not rewarding you by giving up any body fat at all. Diets for quick weight loss are very well known for putting on MORE weight in the long term, than you initially lost.

Being in ‘famine mode’ is a pre-historic mechanism which early humans used for survival in order to help preserve stored fuel (body fat). This is the exact same body fat you are trying to rid. The idea was that by storing body fat in times of famine, people could survive longer. 

Is it any wonder that most people who try these Fad Diets for a few weeks, eventually abandon all hope and go right back to their previous diet and lifestyle. 

Unfortunately most diets for quick weight loss, in fact, belong to the ‘Fad’ category. In other words they are not based on Science, rather they seem to be based on Science-fiction at best. ‘Quick fixes’ are definitely NOT the solution for long term weight loss. 

The solution is to find a Weight Loss Diet that is based on the actual Science of how metabolism works to process the foods we are eating in order to burn fat. The aim is to use a “Fat-Loss” program to rid excess body fat instead of these fad “Weight-Loss” programs which result in muscle, water and other lean tissue loss.

Low carb diets have made a comeback – and created a hot debate. What is a low carb diet? Low carb diets concentrate on drastically reducing carbohydrates. However, some dieticians are convinced that eating a diet consisting of both simple and complex carbohydrates is essential to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Low carb diets concentrate on the amount of carbs you eat and have a strict induction phase. Low glycemic index diets concentrate on the quality of the carbohydrates you eat and go for more of a low fat and healthy approach.

There are different types of low carb diets varying only in types and number of carbohydrates. The problem is these kinds of diets are difficult, especially south beach and others that call for you to eliminate fruits, breads, desserts, chips and other snacks.

Low carb diets control carbohydrate consumption, which in turn is said to promote the breakdown of fat as the blood sugar is kept stable. This stable blood sugar is the secret behind the success and benefits of any low carb diet.

Low carb diets help your body to lose weight by accessing your stored body fat for energy because there is little available energy in the form of glucose from the low carb diet.

Low carb diets seem to bring about rapid loss of weight, so many people turn to these diets. Sadly, this weight loss, which is mostly muscle and water caused by cutting calories, comes with a host of serious side effects, one of which is a depletion of minerals. One of the minerals that are often depleted is calcium, which of course leads to bone loss, osteoporosis, kidney stones, and more.

Low carb diets have recently become popular over the last few  years, but the problem with low carb menus is that they are too strict and too hard to follow for the average person . Low carb menus have a tendency to rob your body of too much energy and make it very difficult to remain on the program for long.

Carbs should make up less than 10 percent, and in some cases, less than 5 percent of daily calorie intake. Carbs give your body energy. Some people think that eating carbs will make them gain weight, but carbs, as well as all other nutrients, will get stored as fat only if you eat too much of them.

Carbohydrates give body cells the source of energy to support all their activities. This is the reason why when the body’s sugar level is so low, the person experiences a feeling of weakness and lack of energy. Carbohydrates, on the other hand, are readily converted into fat by insulin. When you eat high carbohydrate foods, the increased blood sugar stimulates insulin production by the pancreas.

Low-carb diets can also promote early success because their higher level of protein tends to keep people’s appetite satisfied for longer periods of time. This can be especially helpful for people who previously omitted protein at meals and snacked on carbohydrates every couple of hours.

When it comes to losing weight, the first option that strikes in mind is dieting. It is assumed that abstinence from food can help reduce weight considerably within short period but it has some drawbacks. People start dieting without considering that it might land them in the problem bigger than the obesity. Lose weight diets should be practiced under guidance of a expert dietician. The dietician would advice you what to avoid and what to eat. He will take care that your food contains ample nutrients so that you don’t feel week and feeble from inside like others who start dieting without consulting their dietician.

There are many views on dieting. Some say that it is very effective; however, others claim that it takes long time in reducing weight. But in reality, dieting controls the intake of fat and other elements that increase weight. Restricting your food habits has nothing to do with weight lose but to cut the unnecessary food that is causing obesity. It shows results but after considerable time. If you can couple your lose weight diets with some light exercises then you can speed up your weight losing rate. Here too you need guidance of an expert dietician because you need to take nutritious meals to become fit for exercising.

Unprocessed food, alcohol, sugar and beverages appreciate fat. In addition, stress and tension also augment obesity. One needs to subdue the bad food habits and overcome stress in order to make his lose weight diets successful otherwise all his efforts will go waste. It is seen that people find it easy to avoid food but difficult to handle stressful situations. When under stress, people eat more because quick snacks reduce stress. If you remain under stress then it means you are eating more. At this point, you need help of an expert dietician. He will not only suggest you mineral rich food but also help you overcome stress.

People have a tendency to return to their normal food habits once they feel that they have lost enough fat. They conclude their Lose weight diets without consulting their dietician. Within a short span, they get fatter than they were previously. Make dieting your habit and take only processed home cooked food that is nutritious and delicious too. Don’t consider dieting as a program that you can conclude some day. Make dieting your habit and remain fit for rest of your life.
